Ridgedale Families and Staff,
I am writing to update you regarding the recent cybersecurity incident involving PowerSchool, the software vendor that provides our Student Information System (SIS). As we have addressed in previous updates related to this incident, this compromise was not the result of any Ridgedale accounts being accessed. This breach happened via a PowerSchool support account. This did not happen as a result of something Ridgedale Local Schools did or did not do to protect our data.
PowerSchool has engaged Experian, a trusted credit reporting agency, to provide complimentary identity protection and credit monitoring services to individuals who had information exfiltrated from PowerSchool SIS. In the coming weeks, Experian (on behalf of PowerSchool) will be distributing direct email notifications to involved individuals (or their parent/guardian, as applicable) for whom PowerSchool has sufficient contact information. (Note: Due to changing email addresses, contact information of former staff and students is unlikely to be accurate.) PowerSchool has also worked with Experian to set up a dedicated, toll-free call center to answer any questions associated with these offerings and the incident.
We are encouraging all staff, parents, and students who have been affiliated with Ridgedale Local Schools anytime between January 1, 2004 and January 1, 2025 to activate this offering from Experian and PowerSchool now instead of waiting to be notified.
To learn how to activate this offering from Experian or access the toll-free call center, visit: http://www.powerschool.com/security/sis-incident/notice-of-united-states-data-breach/.
The deadline to complete this enrollment is May 30, 2025.
We care deeply about the welfare of our Ridgedale Local School families and will continue to do everything we can to support you.
Thank you,
Brian Slone
