Weekly Update 8-25-24

Good afternoon, Rocket families!

This is Erika Bower, Superintendent of Ridgedale Local Schools, where our mission is to empower students to reach their full potential while focusing on learning, safety, partnerships with our community, and fiscal responsibility.

Thank you for a fantastic first week! As you may have heard, at the jr/sr high, we are using a red card and blue card system in classrooms to clearly communicate with students about when they can use cell phones. If the red card is up outside of the classroom, cell phones should not be out. If the blue cards are up outside a classroom, cell phones are permitted for educational purposes. Cell phones are never allowed in restrooms. They will be rarely allowed out in the cafeteria as we want students to talk to each other rather than being on technology. Our students are doing a great job adjusting to this!

This year, we will be utilizing the Safer Ohio Tip Line to report concerns. The tip line is an anonymous reporting system that accepts tips via call, text, webform, and mobile app 24 hours-a-day. Anyone can download the Safer Ohio School Tip Line app, call or text 844-SAFEROH, or use the webform. In addition, you can contact our administrative team and staff directly through our website.

Tomorrow, Monday, August 26, we welcome our preschool students. Our kindergarten students will be here full time as well. High school golf competes at North Baltimore, and junior high volleyball plays at Elgin on Monday. On Wednesday, junior high volleyball plays at home, and high school volleyball plays at Wynford. High school volleyball plays Elgin, and junior high football plays Elgin on Thursday. On Friday, high school football travels to Elgin. JV football is scheduled for a night game against Colonel Crawford on Saturday. Please remember there is no school on Monday, September 2 in honor of Labor Day.

We are proud to be a small district doing big things, so be sure to keep up to date with all of the news and events by using our website, Google Calendar, and social media.

If you are interested in substituting for our district in a variety of roles such as teacher, secretary, cafeteria, custodian, and aide, please apply on our website. Would you like to give back to our district as a bus driver? We can train you for this certification! We are actively searching for a bus route driver and substitute drivers. We would love to have you on our team!

Thank you for all you do for our students, our staff, and our community! Have a great week, and as always, go, Rockets!
